Raised on the Pacific Coast, I grew up and was educated in Washington and Oregon plus worked during the summers in North California. Finished college at the of University of Washington in Economics, and started selling real estate while still in college found I liked it so much made it a lifelong career. In 1976 opened my own real estate office and was the first broker in the State of Washington to offer home warranties to buyers and sellers in order to help protect the values of my client’s homes plus reduce home ownership cost. This office was also the first company to offer guaranteed sale program backed up by a national financing program in Washington State.
A member of the National Association of Realtors, State of Washington and local board of realtors since 1976, also president of the Pierce County MLS service in 1985. During my term as president of the Pierce County MLS we were the second Multiple Listing Service in US to use electronic lock boxes and one of the first MLS organizations to provide all of our MLS data through computer to computer phone connections rather than printing “listing books”. Have had the opportunity to served on the board of Director for both the Pierce County Association of Realtors and the King County Association of Realtors. National certified trainer for a realty estate franchise and both a Pre-License trainer and broker manager trainier certified by the State of Washington.
I have been married for 38 years to my wife, father of two grown boys, one is in construction management and the other in real estate property management and sales. Both sons are graduates of the University of Washington. My wife Susan is School teacher for middle school in local school district in addition to being broker for our property management company.
Over 39 years as Real Estate Agent and Broker, I have worked with REO properties since 1980 and closed as many as 280 REO listings in one year. My team’s goal is to make it as easy as possible for our customers and clients to determine the correct value of the properties, get homes into marketing condition and on the market as quickly as possible, expose them to the most potential number of buyers, negotiate the best terms and prices possible, then get sale to escrow and closed.
This office has full time well trained team determined to complete every task required accurately. Like all teams, internal and external communication is one of the most critical factors. The office procedures manual is always being updated because the change required of our clients and upgrades in systems and tasks. To this end the team tries not to be redundant in activities but at the same time make sure to have proper checks and balances. The staff is cross trained with each member knows how to step in to help others complete their tasks and activities. Work is divided into three basic processes. First is getting property “on the market”. Second is getting property from active listing to sale pending listing. Third is getting property from sale pending to closed sale.
The idea of innovating the office with high tech solutions that help provide better services started in 1986 when I connected my office to internet services, well before most other real estate companies. Each year the office staff and myself reevaluated to determine what addition training, computer programs and technical services can be added that make both financial and time savings. Additional training is provided to the staff so they can become more familiar with the services allowing us to provide better services for the cutomers and clients. It is the process of managing people and activities plus implementing new systems and technology and making sure they mesh together that motivates me.
