Heavner, Beyers & Mihlar, LLC has 40 years of experience working on default matters from commencement to conclusion, including REO transactions throughout the entire state of Illinois for lenders and servicers. The firm’s knowledge of foreclosure law assists the REO team and its attorneys in proactively dealing with and negotiating all issues along the way, including unpaid condominium and townhome association dues, issues with municipalities, as well as building code violations.
Ms. Beyers has been working in the industry since 1999, and her unique experience as a litigator ensures clients stay on the cutting edge of all industry changes and have the most up to date information on issues that could prevent the parties from reaching the closing table on time.
Ms. Beyers, along with her partner Faiq Mihlar, manages and oversees the firm’s REO team. Ms. Beyers also oversees and manages the Firm’s litigation department, handling all aspects of foreclosure and real-estate related litigation, including but not limited to Affirmative Defenses and Counter-Claims based on alleged RESPA, TILA, FDCPA, violations. Additionally, Ms. Beyers has successfully litigated numerous adversary claims filed in Illinois District bankruptcy courts. She is experienced in all aspects of ordinance violations and condemnation proceedings. She has also litigated local real estate property disputes, taking those cases to trial, and handling the subsequent appeals. Ms. Beyers is the head of the firm’s Chicago office which handles coverage for the firm’s Northern Illinois matters, including Cook and the collar counties. Ms. Beyers is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, Illinois Creditors Bar Association, Mortgage Bankers Association, and the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys.
Ms. Beyers has been a frequent speaker on mortgage foreclosures and related topics at IICLE conferences, and has authored training and compliance materials for servicers.
She is licensed in Illinois and in the Federal District Courts for the Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois.
Ms. Beyers was selected for membership and served on the Cook County Mortgage Foreclosure Mediation and Housing Counseling Subcommittee, as well as the Cook County Commercial Foreclosure Advisory Subcommittee.
