Lowndes Pope earned his undergraduate degree from Clemson University and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. Before attending law school, Lowndes owned his own small business and worked in management with a regional bank. Following law school, Lowndes first worked in employment law then began his concentration in real estate law. Prior to forming Riley Pope & Laney, LLC, in 2001, Lowndes served as Vice President of Old Republic National Title Insurance Company with legal and managerial responsibility over the South Carolina operations. Since founding his law firm, Lowndes has focused on residential and commercial transactions and represents creditors exclusively in default matters. His representation of creditors includes foreclosure, bankruptcy, eviction, loss mitigation, and REO matters across all of South Carolina.
He is a member and past Chair of the Technology Law Committee within the South Carolina Bar, the Richland County Bar, American Bar Association, ALTA, Bank Counsel, Legal League 100, US REO Partners, and ALFN. He is admitted to practice before all South Carolina state courts, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina, and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Lowndes lives in Columbia with his wife and their three spirited boys. He enjoys the outdoors, stays active in the tennis community, and coaches/attends all of his boys’ sporting events.
